Unusual Crown Proof Marked Post World War I DWM Model 1920 Commercial Luger Pistol Rig with 1920 Era Altered Military/Commercial Style Holster

This is an excellent example of a post-WWI 1920-era commercial Luger with an 1920 Commercial style holster. These Lugers were usually all based on the WWI models that were factory refurbished after WWI. It has the blank chamber area with "DWM" logo on the first toggle. It has the standard commercial style serial number placement with the full number (7951) stamped on the front of the frame with the "Crown/N" commercial proofs on the underside of the barrel, left side of the barrel extension and breechblock. This beautiful Luger has a very unusual single small "Crown" proof directly over the serial numbers letter suffix. The proof itself is similar to a standard Naval Crown proof only smaller. The exact meaning of this proof is unknown, however it could indicate it was intended as a commercial sale to a Weimar-era Naval officer. It has the standard safety and loaded markings and is currently fitted with the original early post-war style light colored walnut checkered grips and a WWI style unmarked magazine. The base is stamped "GERMANY" in small letters. This pistol is complete with an original WWI, 1916 dated, cut down Artillery holster. The front of the holster is stamped "MIL. EFFEKTER/JUL. RICHTER/DRESDEN/1916" with a small "GERMANY" on the lower front edge of the flap. It still retains the original WWI era cleaning rod pouch on the front side of the holster.

Manufucture: DWM
Model: 1920 Rework
BBL: 3 7/8 inch round
Stock:
Guage: 7.65 mm Luger Auto
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 7951

Very fine with 98% of the original blue finish overall, with 95% of the straw colors on the small parts. The walnut grips are excellent with minimal handling marks. The right grip screw is missing. The holster is also excellent as originally altered with tight stitching and clear sharp markings. As noted this excellent Luger has all matching numbers except the magazine. This is probably the best 1920 Commercial Luger/holster rig we have ever seen, and certainly with the unusual "Crown" proof marks should be investigated further.
