Untouched finely and highly Gustav Young engraved Colt Model 1851 Navy percussion revolver in deluxe rosewood case with form-fitted and lined original interior in the French style, .36 cal., 7-1/2” octagonbarrel, traces of gold wash in protected areas over silver finish, the back strap is period engraved “Hugh Dimond”, ivory grips, #51820. This gun is in overall very good condition showing an even grey patina onmetal surfaces, gold wash traces on the rammer and underside of barrel assembly; outstanding deluxe engraving, in our opinion, by Young’s own hand including hand cut “Colts Patent” on the left side of the frameand the above-noted inscription; approx. 80% of original silver on the brass trigger guard and backstrap; all matching visible serial numbers with special handling mark adjacent to each serial number on the barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard and backstrap; period rear sight added along with a silver blade front sight; bore is uncleaned and appears very good, action is not working, ivory grips are excellent and beautifully grained;
