The bottom edge of the cameo is inscribed, <I>N. 185 King</B></I> The reverse is inscribed, <I>N. 185, J. C. King, Boston, 28th May 1849</B></I><BR><BR><I>This cameo is attributed to John Crookshanks King (1806 - 1882), a Scottish born machinist and sculptor, who immigrated to the United States in 1829.
