Unmarked European Flintlock Pistol
There are no maker markings on this 18th century pistol, which could possibly be either Dutch or German. The tapered barrel has a blade front sight on a forged flat section measuring 6 1/2" long. The breech of the barrel has engraving. The engraved brass furniture includes the loose buttcap. The stock has a floral carving near the engraved barrel tang, broad tear drop style stock flats, square back style trigger guard and horn forend tip.

Good. The barrel has a smooth gray patina with some scattered dark spotting mixed with heavy amounts of a protective coating. The action has a mixed gray patina mixed with some strong traces of a protective coating. The brass has a mellow aged patina. There is a chunk of wood missing from the forearm (near the first ramrod pipe), otherwise the wood is very good with some minor dings and scratches, a few absent chips and a stress crack at a side plate screw. The horn tip, which is crudely repaired, has a chunk missing. The ramrod is a crude replacement. Action needs work as the hammer does not hold a full cock position.
