Unmarked 1840 style heavy cavalry saber of type probably imported to US from Europe before Civil War. The blade remains in excellent condition. The scabbard shows some light to moderate pitting and erosion. Theguard shows a light patina. The grip is in very good condition showing a single wire wrap with just slight normal aging and there are absolutely no markings what so ever on the sword and the scabbard is somewhat crudeas it is made and is soldered together like a Confederate scabbard.
