Unknown artist, Fishermen, oil on high quality canvas, circa1950s, apparently by an artist belonging to the New Horizons group, framed, dimensions: 67X128 cm. * "New Horizons" was a group of artists in Israel from 1948 to 1963 and sought to encourage the influence of international art on the Israeli visual arts. Its main contribution was the founding of a lyrical style of drawing and sculptures with an abstract nature. The group's main characteristic was its members' general approach - a universal preference for localism and progress rather than a unique ideological platform - despite the avant-garde characteristics of the group, it members became official representatives of the state. Preferring the universal to the local, the members influenced all artistic activity in Israel.
