Featured in this lot is is a collection of silver half dollars consisting of Kennedy half dollars, Walking Liberty half dollars and Franklin half dollars circa 1936 to 1964. There are six Kennedy half dollars, eleven Walking Liberty half dollars and seven Franklin half dollars. The Kennedy half dollars in this collection were all made in 1964, with five being minted in Denver and one minted in Philadelphia. The coin was designed by Gilroy Roberts and depicts a bust of John F. Kennedy. The reverse side was designed by Frank Gasparro and depicts a heraldic eagle holding a cluster of arrows and an olive branch. The next group of coins are the Walking Liberty coins circa 1936-1945. These coins were designed by Adolph Weinman. The obverse of the coin shows Lady Liberty walking toward the sun carrying a bundle of branches, while the reverse shows an eagle perched on a rock ready to take flight. Seven of the coins were minted in Philadelphia, one in Denver and three in San Francisco. The final seven coins are the Franklin half dollars. The coin was designed by John R. Sinnock. The obverse shows a profile of Ben Franklin facing right with"LIBERTY" above Franklin’s bust with the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" below. The date is to Franklin’s right. The reverse shows the Liberty Bell with the Legend above. Below is the denomination with "E Pluribus Unum" to the left of the bell. An eagle with its wings spread on is to the bell’s right. Four coins were minted in Denver, two in San Francisco and one in Philadelphia. The coins show varying degrees of wear and discoloration but no obvious signs of damage are noted. The coins measures 1 3/16" in diameter and have a collective weight of 297.8 grams.
