United States Property Springfield Armory Model 1911 semi-auto pistol, .45 cal., 5” barrel, blue finish, checkered diamond wood grips, #105071. According to Ordinance Procurement Records, this was one of 16,285 manufactured in 1914 and was shipped on April 3rd in a batch of 200. This desirable gun is in overall very good condition showing approx. 70% muted original blue finish, very good bore, crisp action, sharp markings and very good grips; two-tone magazine featuring the folded over bottom with the with lanyard ring on base and brazed spot on the back near the top of magazine; in Kraft two-piece cardboard box with waxed paper wrap. Of historical note, the Springfield Armory pistol plant was established in 1913 and only produced 25,767 1911s during 1914 and 1915 prior to being terminated because they needed to concentrate on rifle production.
