United States Automotive Corp. (Lexington). I
United States Automotive Corp. (Lexington). Issued, 2 shares, Nov. 26, 1920. Signed by E.W. Ansted, Pres. of this short-lived conglomerate, and namesake of the Ansted engine. Currency-green and purple-black. A handsome certificate by Hamilton Bank Note Co., N.Y., with large vignette of a Minute Man bearing a long rifle, and the Lexington script. (Curiously, "Lexington" derived from their original location in Kentucky.) In the year of this certificate, "Lexingtons placed first and second in the famous Pikes Peak Hill Climb...In 1920 E.W. Anstead had corralled all of his various enterprises together under the umbrella of the United States Automotive Corp. But then everything seemed to fall apart...."--Standard Catalog.... Their factory would be taken over by Auburn. Trivial corner tip bend, else very fine and crisp.
