This is an example of a post-WWI 1920 DWM commercial Luger pistol fitted with the desirable 6 inch commercial barrel. These 1920 commercials were produced in two types: those that were WWI military lugers that were reworked by the DWM factory and later on those that were produced with all new parts. This example is a military rework, however it was produced to the same high standards as all the commercial models. Blank chamber with the DWM monogram on the front toggle. Crown/N commercial proofs on the left barrel extension and front toggle. The front of the frame is marked "GERMANY" along with the full serial number with the "o" suffix. "GERMANY" is also stamped on the left side of the barrel. The side plate has an exquisitely executed presentation "PEG" monogram inside a diamond motif. Properly marked safety position and extractor. The partial serial number (63) is stamped on the takedown latch and toggle link. Fixed sights, stock lug, straw colored small parts, checkered grips and nickel plated magazine with "GERMANY" marked wood base. Complete with an unmarked commercial textured pebble grain brown leather holster and an extra nickel plated magazine with wood base marked "GERMANY".
BBL: 6 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 7.65 mm Luger Auto
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 2963o
Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 99% original blue finish with the rear of the frame thinned to a brown patina, along with some scattered minor thinning. The small parts retain 95% original straw color. There is a barely noticeable hairline crack near the screw on the right panel, otherwise the grips are excellent with a few minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very fine with some scattered minor flex wear. The stitching is tight.
