Unique and Exceptional Final Production Pre-War/Post-War Colt Frontier Six Shooter Single Action Army Revolver

Colt Frontier Six Shooter Single Action Revolver manufactured in 1940. A plaque states that this revolver was the last .44-40 Frontier Six Shooter manufactured by Colt before production of the Single Action Army ended in 1940 at serial number 357,859. The revolver has the Colt commercial blue finish on the barrel, ejector housing, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap. The frame and loading gate have vivid case colors. The top of the hammer is blue and the sides are polished bright. The two piece black hard rubber grips are checkered and have the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. The ejector rod has an oval head and the hammer spur has borderless knurling. The top of the barrel is roll stamped "COLT'S PT.F.A. CO. HARTFORD CT.U.S.A." in one line. "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" is roll stamped on the left side of the barrel. The left side of the frame is roll stamped with the Colt three date, two line patent markings followed by the Rampant Colt. The assembly number "453" is stamped on the inside of the loading gate. The Colt "triangle/VP" proof mark is stamped on the left front trigger guard bow and "P" is stamped on the left rear bow. The serial number, "357758" is stamped on the bottom of the frame.

Excellent 99% plus overall. The revolver retains nearly all of the bright original blue and casehardened finish. There is almost no handling wear. The cylinder has only the faintest drag lines. All of the screws are perfect. The slightly oversized grips are near new. This is an exceptional nearly new example of the last pre-war Colt Frontier Six Shooter Single Action Army Revolver.
