Unique Very Early Production Second Contract U.S. Remington-Rand Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol without FJA and Ordnance Proof

Manufactured in 1943, as the 45th pistol in the first serial number block assigned to Remington-Rand for wartime production of the Model 1911A1 Pistol. This particular example lacks the Atwood "FJA" proof and the Ordnance "crossed cannon" stamp. The cause of this is unknown; the pistol may have been made to serve as a company reference piece/tool room model, it may have been a piece that was rejected, or any number of other scenarios. Serrated blade front and flat top notch rear sights, with the desirable, second pattern slide markings of: "REMINGTON RAND INC./SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A.", with the "P" proof on top and a "P" proof marked frame with a stamped trigger, thin hammer, checkered mainspring housing and slide catch, Keyes Fiber grips and a High Standard barrel.

Excellent, with 98% plus parkerized finish, showing some light takedown scratches on the slide and frame, bright edge wear and mild handling marks. The grips are excellent, with a small amount of verdigris buildup and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
