Unique Post World War I Weimar Imperial Navy/Nazi Navy Dual Issue Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol

This is a very scarce example of an early post WWI DWM Luger that was eventually reissued in 1933/34 time frame for the early Nazi Navy. The Luger started out as an early 1920 Commercial rework as it has the standard "Crown/N" commercial proofs on the left side of the barrel extension and breech block, and the blank chamber area. It was probably turned in compliance with the 1920 Reichswehr, retained by the military and rebuilt by the Simson and Co. and issued to the early Imperial German Navy and then the early Nazi Navy. Retains the original DWM markings on the front toggle. The right barrel extension has the 1920 era "SU/25" Simson/Ulbricht rework/repair proof mark followed by a Simson firing proof. The barrel is a replacement, the serial number is matching but the letter suffix is not and the number is a slightly different size. Correct single Simson firing proof used during this time on the left side of the barrel. Both indicate that the Luger was converted from the 7.65 mm to 9 mm Luger when reissued to the Imperial Navy. The Navy proof mark is on the left side of the frame, which is a panagraphed second pattern Nazi "Eagle/M", Navy proof that was used only in the 1933/34 time frame. The front grip strap is property marked "O.1096.", indicating issue to the Baltic Sea Fleet. Standard nickel plated magazine body with the wooden base that is marked: "6757".

Manufucture: DWM
Model: 1920 Rework
BBL: 3 7/8 inch round
Stock:
Guage: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered

Good with 50% of the much faded arsenal refurbished blue finish with even honest wear and thinning overall. The markings are clear and distinct with the Eagle/M proof on the side being sharp and distinct. The grips are very good overall with distinct checkering showing wear across the tops of the checkering. A very scarce variation with low production numbers that is seldom encountered.
