Unique Model 1908 DWM Navy Semi-Automatic Police Rework Luger with Rare World War II Navy Waterway Police Holster

This is an example of a DWM Model 1908 German Navy Luger that is complete with a very rare WWII German Navy Waterways black leather holster. The holster is very rare WWII issue that was issued to the units in charge with the inland Waterways. This holster is specifically designed for the 6 inch Navy Model to be worn on a standard belt with a shoulder strap. The back side has the standard loops with double "D" rings for the shoulder straps with no provisions for a board stock, cleaning rod pouch or the takedown tool on the inside of the flap. The upper front section of the holster is stamped with a slightly larger Eagle proof over "cdg/43", the wartime code for the Auwaerter & Bubeck Company. This series of Luger is easily identified in that it lacks the grip safety from the 1906 Models and it has the second pattern marked safety area with no chamber date. This example has the remnants of the sear safety spring on top of the side plate. The front toggle has the standard "DWM" logo and the left side of the barrel extension has the double "crown/M" proofmarks with the smaller Imperial "crown" firing proof, the latter being repeated on the left rear section of the barrel and the "crown/M" proof also stamped on the underside of the barrel. It is numbered in the military manner with the full serial number stamped on the major parts with the last two digits (15) correctly stamped on the various small parts. As noted the magazine that accompanies this pistol is an original pre-war Navy version that has the nickel plated body with an unnumbered wooden base with the concentric circles on the ends. The base is stamped with a single "crown/M" proofmark.

Model: 1908 Navy
BBL: 6 inch round

Guage: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut

Very fine. The pistol retains 90% of the blue finish with edge and high spot wear and thinning on the grip straps. The various small parts retain 75% of their straw color. The grips are very fine showing minor nicks and dings in a few places, and crisp checkering. The holster is fine with excellent color, nice clear sharp markings and tight stitching. Certainly a very unusual DWM 1908 Navy Luger with sear safety and rare WWII issue Waterway/Police holster.
