Unique Late Production Colt Model 1908 .25 Vest Pocket Pistol with Original Box
The serial number is much higher than the last recorded serial number (409061) for the year 1941, the last year of production (experts agree that this specimen, serial number 420579, with one line "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." left side slide address, was made subsequent to World War II). Standard sights, with the aforementioned slide marking with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, serial number on the left side of the frame and "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 25" on the right side of the slide. (Collectors refer to this as a Pre-war/Post-war variation). Blue finish with casehardened trigger and grip safety, and fitted with black checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" in a banner at the tops and the Rampant Colt at the bottoms. Complete with a scarce original maroon hinged lid box numbered to the gun. There are no labels on the inside or outside of the box.
BBL: 2 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 25 ACP
Finish: blue/casehardened
Grips: hard rubber
Serial Number: 420579
Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 99% plus of the original blue finish with a couple of tiny areas of minor spotting on the left side of the slide and overall a few minor scratches and dings. The trigger and grip safety retain virtually all of the bright original case colors with some mild scuffs on the grip safety. The grips are also excellent plus with only a few very minor dings and handling marks, with very crisp checkering. Some of the upper portion of the markings on the right side of the slide are faint (weak factory stamp), otherwise the markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some edge and corner wear.
