The forward scope base covers the top of the receiver ring. The left side of the receiver ring is marked with the serial number preceeded by the letter "K" and the right side is marked with the "Imperial Eagle" and "three crown over Gothic letter" proofmarks. The left side wall is marked "Gew 98", the left rear of the barrel is marked with the matching serial number, the right side is marked with a circled "N" and an "Imperial Eagle" and directly below the rear sight is marked with "S/42G" followed by two "droop wing eagle/63" proofs. The scope is mounted on a unique semi-turret single stud rear post style mount. There is another example photographed on page 51 (also page 53 top, has scope) of the German Sniper 1914-1945 by Peter Senich. A large elevation dial is mounted on top and is graduated to 800 meters and marked "C.P.GOERZ BERLIN/4x/GEWEHR Nr. 7124/a". Standard blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 200 meters. Mounted with a one piece straight grip stock with brass disk on the left side followed by two crown proofs and one crown proof on the wrist. The mismatched stock number has been struck. With exception of the floor plate and complete bolt (both of which were re-numbered to match), visible numbers match. Complete with a muzzle/front sight cover.

Stock: walnut
Gauge: 8 mm
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 6305u
Condition:
Very good as arsenal reworked with the metal surfaces, except the rear barrel band, having a smooth brown patina. The rear barrel band retains most of the arsenal refinish. There is some minor oxidation on the buttplate. The stock is fair with a number of large gashes on the left side and overall minor to moderate dents, dings and scratches. All markings are clear. The action is fine. The scope exterior is fine with a small amount of minor pitting and the optics are a bit hazy.
