This is an example of a late 1914 pattern WWI German Luger pistol as manufactured by the Erfurt Arsenal, that was re-issued during WWII as a Nazi Police Luger. These pistols have a rust blued finish with the straw colored small parts with the standard pattern checkered walnut grips. The chamber is dated 1918 with the standard 'Crown/ERFURT" mark on top of the front toggle. The barrel extension has the standard "Crown/script" proofs with an "Imperial Eagle" proof. The top front edge of the barrel extension has the small sight cut, intended for an artillery rear sight, as seen on many late 1917/1918 produced lugers. The Luger is fitted with a post WWI Simson replacement barrel that has the small "TP" proof for the Technical Police units over the larger Simson Eagle proof. The left side of the barrel and bottom of the magazine aluminum base have a small Nazi Eagle Police proofmark. It is also fitted with the remnants of the Police sear safety over the side plate. The overall pistol exhibits the typical Erfurt machining and rust blued finish with many of the smaller parts having the Erfurt "Crown over a script" letter proof. The pistol has the standard fixed front and rear sights and the extractor and safety are properly marked with "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN". It is complete with a WWII type two all blued Police magazine that has the aluminum base with the reinforcing pin through the center that is marked on the base "1/Eagle F/603".
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw colors
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 603f
Condition: Very fine as Arsenal refurbished with 95% of the blue with only minor edge and high spot wear overall, with the rust blued finish on the back strap, showing signs of some light spotting mixed with a light brown patina on the upper end of the frame. The various small parts retain, traces of their straw colors overall. The grips are in excellent condition with a nice light brown color on both sides, with excellent checkering on both sides with only some minor nicks and dings in a few places. The pistol has all matching numbers including the Haenel Schmeisser marked magazine. Mechanically excellent. A very fine example of a early WWII Nazi Police re-issue Luger pistol.
