Unique Engraved English Percussion Screw Barrel Pistol
Manufactured circa 1830-1840, this pistol features a unique folding bull tipped lever on the underside of the barrel for removing and attaching the barrel. Both sides of the frame feature an engraved array of arms flanked by an upper and lower engraved border, with a simple floral motif in front of the engraving. The top of the barrel is engraved with cross flags and an array of arms and single engraved bands are featured at the muzzle and breech. The upper tang exhibits a floral engraving that extends to the sliding bar safety. A pair of British proofs are stamped near the folding trigger, with a single proof on the barrel underside. The one piece grip has extensive fine checkering and a blank thumb shield.

Fine. The barrel and frame retains some scattered flashes of original case colors mixed with a smooth gray patina. The grip is very fine with some mild bruising in the overall crisp checkering. The engraving is crisp and clear. Mechanically fine.
