Unique Deluxe Factory Engraved Remington Arms Vest Pocket Single Shot Pistol with Patriotic Motif in
Produced circa 1865-1888. Pin and notch sights, with both sides of the barrel engraved with a design of an arrow being shot through a ring, interwoven lines and punch dots on top of the frame, scroll and punch dots around an unmarked shield on the right side and an American shield with similar accents on the reverse. Matching numbers on the underside of the barrel and on the left side of the butt. Smooth two piece mother of pearl grips. In a russet leather case with blue silk and red felt linings, French cut sections for the pistol and cleaning rod (included), and a cartridge compartment with leather trapdoor lid. This pistol, with case and cleaning rod, can be seen on page 166 of "The Deringer in America: Volume II, The Cartridge Period" by L.D. Eberhart and R.L. Wilson.

Condition: Very fine, with 80% of the silver, showing areas of gray steel patina and scattered handling marks. A thin age crack is visible in the right panel, otherwise the grips are excellent, with attractive color. Case is fine, with some wear on the exterior, fraying of the silk and staining and fading of the felt. Mechanically excellent.
