This is an extremely rare and possibly one of a kind, very early model 1900 DWM Luger pistol that may be the original pre-Bulgarian pattern or sample contract DWM Model 1900 Luger. Any early model 1900 Bulgarian contract luger is extremely rare as only a handful of original examples are even know with most of them having been converted to 9mm during their years of service prior to both WWI and WWII. This example is even rarer in that the serial number of this pistol (14602) falls into the middle of the regular 1900 commercial contract range (01-19000). However it has been roll marked over the chamber area with the correct/exact "Bulgarian" Crest that was used on the later serial number range (20000-21000) for the actual Bulgarian Contract Lugers. This excellent pistol has all the standard early features only found on the Model 1900 Lugers, such as the short frame with the old style leaf recoil springs, dished toggles with toggle locks, recessed breech bolt, fast taper 4 3/4 inch barrel, grip safety, first pattern, polished lower safety area with NO markings and no stock lug. As noted the Bulgarian Crest on the chamber area is complete and correctly rolled from side to side and has not been altered in any manner. This rare Luger has the rust blue finish with the straw colors on the small parts. It is complete with one original early nickel plated magazine with the blank wooden base.
BBL: 4 3/4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 7.65 mm Luger Auto
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 14602
Condition:
Excellent with 95% of the original blue finish overall with only edge and high spot wear, mixed with some thinning on the grip straps. The various small parts retain 50% of their straw colors overall, more in the protected areas. The grips are excellent with nice distinct checkering on both sides with only some minor handling marks. This example has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted. This is a unique example of a very scarce early pre-Bulgarian DWM Model 1900 Contract Luger pistol.
