Unique Cased Garniture of Two Pairs of European Percussion Pistols with Accessories A) Engraved Perc
This lot consists of four percussion pistols, two matching sets. The A and B in this lot feature Damascus pattern octagon 52 caliber removable barrels. The only visible marking is a "34" and "TH" on the bottom, front of the frame. The casehardened frame and side of the hammer are engraved with floral scroll designs and the top of the hammer has a fish motif. Blade front and frame notch rear sights, folding trigger and fitted with a one piece smooth bag shaped ebony grip. The four are complete in a wooden case with fitted green lining, ram rod for the two larger pistols, wooden mallet, Kola Granulee cap tin (partially full), bullet mold for the larger pistols, powder flask and combination bullet mold, barrel and nipple wrench for the smaller pistols.

Condition: Fine The barrel retains 30% of the original brown finish and most of the Damascus pattern remains. The frame and hammer retain 40% of the original case colors with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The grip is excellent with a few minor dings and handling marks. The engraving is crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The case is good. The lid is warped and there are a few minor scratches and handling marks on the exterior with some minor wear and staining on the lining. The accessories are all good.

B) Unmarked Engraved Percussion Pistol

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains strong traces of the thin original brown finish with some areas of smooth gray and much of the Damascus pattern remaining. The frame and hammer retain 60% of the original case colors with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The grip is excellent with a few minor handling marks. The engraving is crisp and clear. The action is excellent.



C) Freres Percussion Pistol
These next two pistols feature 7 inch percussion barrels with a Damascus pattern. 12 1/4 inch overall length. Marked "PEYRON FRERES / -A TOURS-" on the lock, the lock, trigger guard and hammer are engraved with floral scroll designs with a geometric border on the lock and fish head motif on the hammer. The breech plug and barrel tang have a feather design. Blade front and notch rear sights, wooden ram rod with brass trumpet head and slotted on the opposite end. The breech plug, hammer and lock were casehardened and the remaining parts blue. Mounted with a one piece half stock secured by a single wedge, iron forend, checkered grip area and buttcap with cap compartment.

Condition: Very good. The barrel has been cleaned some time ago and now has a gray patina with some light spotting and almost all of the Damascus pattern remaining. The forend, trigger guard and butt cap show 60% of the original blue finish mixed with smooth brown patina. The lock shows some traces of the original case colors in the protected area behind the hammer, otherwise the remaining metal surfaces have a smooth grayish brown patina. There is a sliver absent from the ram/cleaning rod which runs the length of the rod. The stock is also very good with scattered minor scratches and dings, with crisp checkering. The markings and engraving are clear. The action is very good.



D) Freres Percussion Pistol

The stock is also very good with scattered minor dings and dents, and crisp checkering. The engraving and marking are clear. The action is excellent.
