Originally manufactured in 1898, this revolver has since been custom embellished in the late 20th Century by a Master Jeweler. 1 5/8" back of the muzzle is a gold band with relief five pointed stars set with a ruby in the center of each. Each side of the front sight has a four point gold star with a diamond in the center on the right side and a blue sapphire on the left side. Each side of the frame below the recoil shield has three five point gold stars with diamonds, rubies and sapphires mounted in the center of each. The grips are solid silver. At the top on each side is a 30 carat star ruby set in gold mountings with a diamond at the base and four gold stars set with rubies and sapphires in the center (writer is no jeweler, but can only guess what these could be worth!). The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left side is marked "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the frame and trigger guard with the assembly number "944" on the loading gate. The revolver comes in a decoratively shaped oak display case with a domed silver plate in the center of the lid surrounded by decorative brass floral leaf design, satin bordering around the outside edge, satin fitted lining and commemorative plaque.
BBL: 7 1/2 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 44-40
Finish: nickel
Grips: silver
Serial Number: 179588
Condition: Custom embellished with virtually all of the nickel remaining, showing a slight cylinder drag line and light handling marks. The grips are a bit ill-fitting and remain excellent. The Rampant Colt on the frame is fading a bit, otherwise the markings are clear. The action is excellent, with the exception of a small crack and nick on the lower right hand corner. The case is near mint. A truly unique, one of a kind Colt Frontier Six Shooter.
