This is a nice example of a late Model 1896/41B sniper rifle that is fitted with the late production improved mount and Ajack scope. This series of rifle was the last and final version of the 1896 sniper rifle and was still in use and held in war reserve until the 1970/80s. The top of the receiver is marked "Crown C/CARL GUSTAFS STADTS/GEVARSFAKTORI/1920". The rifle is fitted with the late pattern improved German short side rail style scope mount and base. The base itself, has the three larger base screws with only the two alignment/reinforcing pins. In addition the front end of the scope base has also been modified by the addition of the front screw stop for the mount. The mount has been fitted with the late style German Ajacks 4X scope. The base of the elevation knob is marked with the small "Swedish Crown Proof/Nr. 1472/1942B" and the obverse is marked "AJACKS 4X90" and it has the correct sniper scope range scale on top of the elevation dial. Both the scope base and mount have the matching serial number "491157". The scope is complete with a set of original leather lens caps. The rifle has the standard military style blade front sight and the rear sight is the later pattern adjustable rear diopter sight. It has the full length military stock and short handguard with the brass bore wear plate on the right side of the buttstock.
BBL: 29 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 6.5x55 mm
Finish: blue/black
Grips:
Serial Number: 491157
Condition: Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 98% of the dull blue/black finish on the metal parts with the complete bolt and cocking assemble having been blued also. The stock and handguards are in very good condition overall with a nice dark brown color with numerous handling marks and light pressure dents overall. The Scope and mount retain 98% of their blue/black finish with nice clear optics. The elevation knob works correctly. The only parts that are still matching on the rifle are the scope mount, scope base and the bolt and bolt assembly. A good solid example of a desirable late production 41B Swedish sniper rifle.
