Unique 1940 Date "byf" Code Postwar Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Matching Magazine

This is a very rare early post WWII P.08 Luger. Standard "1940" dated chamber and "byf" code marked front toggle. The interesting aspect is that the pistol is numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number "277" stamped on all the parts except, correctly there are no military firing or acceptance proofs as they would have been outlawed by the allied treaties. The only proofs are on the left side frame rail and right sight of the barrel extension which are marked with a very small "Eagle/N" post-war commercial proof mark. The top of the extractor has a small "Eagle (partial)/SU20" which may indicate that this was an original wartime part. Standard checkered grips and has a blue Type IV Army magazine marked "fxo/Eagle/37/P.08" and the serial number "277" etched on the spine (just like a postwar P.08 Krieghoff).

Manufucture: Mauser

Guage: 9 mm Luger Auto
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut

Excellent plus. The pistol retains 99% of the original factory blue finish with some very slight edge wear and some light spotting on the barrel. The grips are excellent with a few minor nicks on the right panel and sharp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. A truly unique/rare Luger pistol variation.
