<Our item number 109816><B>Union Volunteer and Cooper Shop Refreshment Saloons.</B> The two &#34;saloons&#34; were opened in Philadelphia to aid Union soldiers, providing free food, drink, and lodging for soldiers headed into active field service, and a separate hospital provided care for the sick and wounded. Five items: an admittance card for either saloon; a 9½&#34; x 12&#34; page with an engraving of the Union Volunteer Refreshment Saloon, naming officers and committee members; a four-sided card with images of the UVR Saloon on one side and the hospital on the other. Accompanied by a card for the &#34;Fifteenth Soiree of the Washington Social Club…Fulton Street…January 30&#34;, 1865; and a card for the &#34;First Invitation Ball of the Bunkers.
