Lot of 2: 1) Heart shaped riveted padlock with length of heavy chain attached to lower body. Front spring-loaded drop stamped “ADLAKE.” Rear body embossed “Switch/ CS1/ Union Pacific.” The shackle rear is stamped “154.” Adams and Westlake, a transportation goods manufacturer, has been in business since 1857. When President Abraham Lincoln signed the Pacific Railroad Act in 1862, Union Pacific and Central Pacific were directed to construct a transcontinental railroad. Union Pacific’s original operation continued until it declared bankruptcy in 1893, whereupon it reorganized. 2) Heart shaped riveted padlock, no end chain. Front embossed with a delicate pebble pattern and “Southern/ Pacific” with the company’s sunset logo, with no key drop. Shackle marked “140 N.” Southern Pacific operated from 1865 to 1996. - Jacobitz Collection -59549
