Civil War–dated manuscript DS, signed “S. B. Hayman,” one page, 15.25 x 14.25, October 6, 1863. A weekly muster report submitted by Samuel B. Hayman indicating “the aggregate strength of the several Regiments from your state…with vacancies existing therein.” The report notes the overall size of each regiment listed, vacant positions for each rank of soldier, and remarks detailing who was killed in action or dismissed, including three officers killed at Gettysburg. In very good condition, with partial separations to intersecting folds and two irregular bands of toning. Hayman was a career US Army soldier, serving in the Mexican War, Civil War, and on the Western frontier.
