Uniform Tunic For a Kriegsmarine Vice Admiral Attributed to Vice Admiral Leo Kreisch Leader of Destroyers and Sea Commander of the Danish Islands

Made in the traditional double breasted configuration in deep navy blue, the inside of this tunic is embroidered "L. Kreisch". Notes provided by the consignor suggest "L. Kreisch" is Leo Kreisch, a career German Navy man who started with the Kaiserliche Marine as a cadet in 1914, serving on a number of small cruisers during World War I and the Weimar Republic-era, as well as acting in a number of staff roles. Continuing his career with the Nazi Kriegsmarine, he serves as chief of the 2nd Torpedo Boat Flotilla, Commandant of the Cruisers Nuernberg and Luetzlow, leader of submarines for Italy and the Mediterranean, and ended the war as leader of destroyers and sea-commander of the port city of Swinemuende (modern Swinoujscie), at the rank of Vice Admiral. The tunic is outfitted with gold ribbon rank cuffs and stars, a gold bullion Nazi eagle on the right breast a Destroyer Badge on the left, and a bar of 8 ribbons on the left side near the lapel. No internal makers marks are visible.
