<B>Undated 5C Jefferson Nickel--Reverse Die Cap--MS65 NGC.</B></I> A previously struck nickel was present within the dies when the present nickel was fed into the coining chamber. The struck nickel blocked the obverse die, caused a brockage, and forced the present die cap to adhere to the reverse die. Additional strikes followed, which deepened the die cap, and distorted the brockage side as it struck against a series of newly fed planchets. A small portion (much of IN GOD) of the obverse was in contact with the obverse die for (at least) the final strike.
