Uncle Scrooge #179 and More Bagged 3-Pack (Whitman, 198
Uncle Scrooge #179 and More Bagged 3-Pack (Whitman, 1980) Condition: Unopened. An unopened Whitman 3-Pack is quite a find no matter what's inside, but our jaws dropped when we saw that this one includes the ultra-hard-to-find " "Uncle Scrooge #179, which is listed among the 10 most valuable Bronze Age comics by Overstreet! That's because for many years, this issue was the ""Holy Grail"" to the hardcore Uncle Scrooge comic book completist. It was available only in bagged Whitman 3-Packs, which were only distributed to non-newsstand outlets (department stores and the like). Less than 30 copies have been confirmed to exist, and two NM unbagged copies sold for over $1,200 in 2001. This is the only example of an unopened bagged copy that we have ever seen or heard of. What are the other two comics in the bag? Sorry, there's no way to find out short of cutting open the 3-Pack (sorry if you just fainted) or otherwise manhandling the comics, so we'll leave it up to the winning bidder to try and figure it out. Also note that unlike many 3-Packs, only the top comic (#179) has the front cover facing outward. That same problem makes the comics impossible to grade in the normal manner, but as there are no defects visible except a few very light spine stress lines, we would put the condition of #179 at VF/NM or better. This would be the crown jewel in anyone's Uncle Scrooge collection, and in fact it might be the rarest Bronze/Modern Age comic book of all, so pass it up at your peril! Overstreet 2005 VF/NM 9.0 value (for #179 only) = $443; NM- 9.2 value = $600.

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour.
