Ultra-rare Dance Bros. .44 caliber percussion Dragoon-size revolver with original 8” octagon barrel, with provenance as belonging to Cpl. John Hargrave, Co. L, 1st Texas Cavalry, born July 23, 1820 and buried atSulfur Bluff cemetery Texas, near his home where he emigrated from Kentucky. His brothers, Robert and Ratliff Hargrave, also rose to "the Southern cause" against their father Hazekiah's wishes, who wanted them tostay at home and tend to their business and civil matters. This completely original and previously unknown Dragoon is serialized with four diamond stamps. Two other octagon barrel Dance Dragoons are known, both withsimilar diamond-identification stampings. The Dance Bros. were located in Colombia, TX, and are among the rarest and most sought-after of all Confederate hand-guns. This cataloger has only viewed one otheroctagon barrel Dance Dragoon, which was formerly in the William Locke collection. The revolver remains in original attic condition with a deep brown patina finish, absolutely uncleaned and untouched in modern times.
