Ultra rare Butterfield disk or pellet primer conversion of Harpers Ferry .69 caliber musket marked at center portion forward of hammer, Butterfields patent, December 11, 1855, Philadelphia with original Harpers Ferry Arsenal markings at rear of lock. Refer Flayderman 9A-266 where it is indicated that deliveries were very limited and these are a collectors rarity. The metal surfaces show a gray patina finish with scattered light to moderate erosion and surface pitting. The markings are good and fairly sharp. The stock is good to very good with typical small scratches, mars, slight losses and normal storage type aging. The rear portion of the stock shows a brass Museum type tag nailed on with number 49. The primer mechanism is original and retains its small parts and still works. The left side of the stock shows small inspectors stamps in the wood and an original ramrod is retained. The only example we have ever had the pleasure to examine or seen offered for sale on the collectors market in the last 30 years. Est.: $5,000 -$10,000.
