An official wartime memo from on board the USS Saranac dated 8 December 1944. Memo states regulations regarding conduct while in port. The Saranac provided fuel and support to ships throughout World War II. In June 1944, the Saranac was attacked by Japanese aircraft; causing severe damage to her structure and resulting in the loss of 9 men, 7 killed and 2 missing. The Fightin' Sarah received five battle stars for her World War II service. Letter measures 8'' x 10.5''. Heavy toning, chips and bites to edges. Good condition.
