ALS, 1p, 4to, “<i>US Ship Independence at sea</i>,” Jul 8, [n.y.] From the “Ship” postal rate of 32¢, the year can be deduced ca. Feb 1, 1815—Mar 30, 1816. A sailor aboard the ship, B.W. Robert, writes to Julian Dowlin in Boston. Social content. In part, “...<i>We have not been sick as I expected we should have been. We are alone by ourselves, as we parted co. the 2nd day after sailing in [light] fog and have not fallen in with any of them yet. The ship is as good as ever floated on the Atlantic Ocean. We spoke to a brig bound to Philadelphia who told us he was very glad to see us out. I wish you would write to us and send it out by the vessel that comes. I think Capt Derby will send it for you.</i>..” Boldly penned. Red-brown “SHIP” arc stamp and “Phi 14 Ju” postmark present. 11. All bidding is done in a competitive manner. The
winning bid will always be one bidding increment
over the second highest bid. The minimum
acceptable bid for any lot is 50% of the low
estimate given in the item description or $25,
whichever is higher.

12. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of
invoice. All accounts are payable to Signature
House. Payment must be made in U.S. funds. Wire
transfer details are available upon request.
West Virginia residents will pay a sales tax of
6% unless a resale number is filed with us prior
to the closing date. For sales outside of the USA
a credit card is requested.

13. Shipment is made via U.S. Postal Service or
Airborne unless otherwise instructed. Handling,
shipping and insurance charges are added to the
invoice. Oversize and foreign shipments are subject
to increased charges. All items are shipped
immediately upon receipt of payment.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within
seven days providing that it comes back in the same
condition. There is a lifetime guarantee on
authenticity to the original purchaser. The item(s)
must be returned with two letters denying it’s
authenticity by expert authenticators acceptable
