Solid wooden fragment from the USS Constitution. Worm-eaten fragment measures 5 x 1.5 x .75, and originates from the John S. Reigart Collection of Historical American Relics. Handwritten tag by Reigart on a rectangular tag attached to the wood by a wire reads: “Piece of the U. S. Frigate Constitution. Presented by Charles M. Holmes Esqr of Newark, N. J. March 28th 1861.”
