SN: 6 United States Historical Society highly embellished reproduction of the Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver. Commemorating the American Civil War Battle of Hampton Roads & the ironclad ships that fought in it, the USS Monitor & CSS Virginia (Merrimac). Revolver features high polish blued finish, one piece wood grip, 7.5" octagonal barrel, fixed post front sight, rear sight on hammer lip, brass triggerguard & backstrap. Gold embellishments include "USS MONITOR" & "CSS VIRGINIA" next to American flag on barrel left, "HAMPTON ROADS VIRGINIA 1862" next to Confederate Naval Ensign on barrel right, naval anchor on frame, cylinder scene depicting the two vessels. Revolver is like new with few signs of being handled. Wood display case has glass window lid, blue velvet lining, faux scrimshaw type oval insert with battle scene involving the two vessels. Also included are a key for the case, red velvet storage bag, envelope of documents from USHS. Wood case is very good condition, with brass plaque bearing the name of a previous owner.
