Vietnam War-dated original fabric United States Air Force blood chit, 10 x 19.75, issued as No. 74495S for Southeast Asia and the West Central Pacific, with large American flag to top and the balance of notice featuring a help message in 14 different languages: English, Burmese, Thai, Laotian, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Malayan, Indonesian, Chinese, Chinese (Modern), Tagalog, Visayan, French, and Dutch. The English caption: “I am a citizen of the United States of America. I do not speak your language. Misfortune forces me to seek your assistance in obtaining food, shelter and protection. Please take me to someone who will provide for my safety and see that I am returned to my people. My government will reward you.” Lithographed by WHG Oct. 1968, and published by the Aeronautical Chart and Information Service. In fine condition, with light overall rippling. Also known as an escape and identification flag, a blood chit is a notice that is carried by the military, usually aircraft personnel, that displays messages aimed at civilians, which asks them to help the service member in case they are shot down.
