USA WWII PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM NOSE ART PINUP
This remarkable album belonged to Frederick H. Gach who served with the 69th Air Service Squadron (APO 920) on Biak Island, Netherlands East Indies. The album contains some 250 bw photographs of different sizes, mostly captioned, as well as some Japanese Occupation money. The album is remarkable in that it features about 30-40 photos of nose art that decorated US aircraft from his squadron. Among the nose art illustrated are: Rip Snorter, Pappy's Passion, Stitched Up Piece, Empty Saddle, Tondelayo, and many others. Other photos include a Jewish New Year Vmail, Japanese POWs, crashed B-24 and a Bob Hope show staged on 9-10-1944. The album is also very rich in photos of semi nude native women with the majority taken by Gach himself. Generally very fine, some photos loose or detached from album.
