Reverse: BALTIMORE 1th OF APRIL around a laurel wreath. Below, 1861.At center, engraved, John Caligan, CoG. John Caligan appears on the rolls of Company G, note the spelling with two Ls. These silver medals were officially issued to the very few members of the 6th Regiment Volunteer militia from Massachusetts and Pennsylvania attacked in Baltimore on their way to Washington.
