US model 1840 heavy cavalry saber marked C Hammond with JF inspections on scabbard. The sword may remains in good to very good condition with nice blade showing most of its bright polish just a small amount ofcleaning and some light erosion. The grip is in good condition and the scabbard shows a pleasing brown with a couple small dents, dings and normal aging. There was a controversy for a time that Hammond was aConfederate maker which is now disproven. Est.: $600 -$1,200.
