US model 1813 Flintlock pistol by S. North of Middleton CT, .69 caliber smoothbore, approx. 9-1/16” barrel, 15-1/4” overall, marked S. North. With eagle at center portion of lock, US over Midln Con. Refer Flayderman 6A-015. One of only approx. 1626 made. The pistol shows an excellent reconversion to flintlock using what appears to be an original hammer, frizzen and spring, and is almost imperceptible. The top jaw and screw are missing. The metal surfaces are good with some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, good sharp markings on lock. The stock is exceptionally good with 75% cartouche showing on left side. Some minor marks, scratches, but at least very good overall. An original to the period metal tipped hickory ramrod is included. A significant and desirable US martial pistol, just in need of a top-jaw and screw. The reconversion work is top-shelf, and imperceptible without disassembly and examination of lock and inside of barrel. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
