PATROL FORCE SEMI-AUTO MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1771690. Bbl. 24". Marked on right side 3-SA-7-43. Not import marked. Guam is United States territory and the import markings are not required. These fascinating rifles were used by the Local Security Patrol Force unit, which was formed by order of Admiral Nimitz to eliminate the Japanese holdouts after the island was declared secure. The force consisted of former members of the Guam Insular Patrol Force and members of the US Marine Corps. The Guamanians were given United States surplus arms and equipment including this rifle, which is 1 out of a lot of 30 which were traded by the Guam police department in 1996 to a US licensed dealer for new firearms. The rifles are thought to be from the Marine Corps but they could be from Army stocks. This rifle is #29 in the Scott Duff book “The Guam Garands” dated October 1996. Locking Bar rear sight w/ battle range elevation knob. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. The sight screw protector is not present. All visible parts markings are SA. Walnut stock set has faint boxed SA/EMcF and ‘’crossed cannons’’. Circle P proof under grip. Unmarked model 1907 leather sling w/ brass hooks. CONDITION: These well worn rifles saw a great deal of service in a hostile environment. Original finish stock set has extensive wear and handling marks. Buttplate area has notable loss of wood from being stored in a damp environment. Rear handguard has approx. 2" crack forward of receiver ring. Metal retains 50% original Parkerized finish with thinning, wear and handling marks throughout. Left receiver rail has notable area of fine pitting. Bore turning dark with worn lands. (22-4199/RW).
