This lot begins with two city railroads. 1) Frankford & Southwark Philadelphia City Passenger Railroad #4253 for 8 shares to Sally Lewis in 1901. Cancelled. In May, 1857, the Philadelphia and Delaware River Railroad was chartered, giving the right to build a road from Philadelphia to Frankford, upon which cars drawn by horses could be used. Horse cars were in use from January 8, 1858, to November 17, 1863, when the Frankford and Southwark Passenger Railway introduced "dummies" which ran from the depot, Fourth and Berks Streets, to Frankford. 2) Indianapolis and Martinsville Rapid Transit Company unused stock. This company was incorporated on April 24, 1901 and operated independently until April 1, 1907. 3) Three Pittsburg & Lake Erie Railroad Co. stocks. #7227 for 50 shares in 1924. #8910 for 20 shares in 1925. This stock has a 20 cent State of New York stock transfer tax stamp. #16728 for 6 shares in 1927. All cancelled. 4) Kansas Missouri and Texas Railway Company #8668 for 100 shares in 1903.
