This is a original U.S. Post Office box and was in use in Luther, Montana (Linley, Montana) circa 1900-1910. On March 12, 1902, the Post Office was established as "Linley, MT," with Walter R. Linley as the postmaster. If was officially changed to "Luther" on March 4, 1907, with Grace R. Luther named as postmaster. The piece has the original label across the front that reads, "U.S. Post Office Made by Pacific P.O. Equip. Co. San Francisco, Cal." The piece has a oak case with excellent U.S marked key and dual combination doors. The doors have glass peep windows with numbers in each. The center has a small counter with safety bars and closing doors. This is an excellent and rare piece. Appears to be complete. Measures overall 57.5"W x 49.5"H x 16"D.
