US Navy Pilot Survival Large Folding Knife. WW2 Era

Large pocket knife with folding knife and saw blade. Original black composite
handle plates. The main blade is marked Colonial Prov. R.I.

Main blade length: 4 3/4in. Knife length (folded): 6in.
:
Excellent condition considering WW2 issue knife. The blades show that is has been
sharpended and the Saw appears unused. Very good overall condition.

Light wear on the handle plates and metal caps.

Nicknamed the Big Jack or Giant Jack these huge folding survival knives were
introduced during WWII by the Colonial Knife Co. of Providence, R.I., for use by U.S.
Navy pilots. The design is similar to other folding pocket knifes, with a locking single
edge Bowie style blade on one end, and a saw on the other.
What makes these different is really the SIZE of the knife, which when fully opened is
almost 16 inches in length. With a 6 inch handle, it really fills the hand, which could
definitely be an advantage in some situations.
