US MODEL 1855 PISTOL CARBINE WITH REPRODUCTION
BUTTSTOCK. Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 12". Rnd. bbl. has captive steel ramrod in swivel at front, “V", "P” & eagle head proofs are at rear. Folding leaf sights are on tang. Back strap is cut for attachable stock. Percussion lock w/ priming device is dated 1856 at rear & is marked “US SPRINGFIELD” at front. An eagle is stamped on priming cover. Pistol is brass mounted w/ single spring retained band, brass tip to stock & trigger guard that extends to rounded cap w/ lanyard ring stamped “3”. Inspector’s mark is on left side of stock. Pistol is fitted w/ repro attachable butt, which is unmarked. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: cardboard display box w/ battlefield dug up 54 cal. mini ball & in sections of tape primers, one still wrapped & coiled. A card printed w/ information is at bottom. CONDITION: good, bbl. heavily cleaned to bright, toning back. Proof marks clear. Rear sight leaves are replaced. Lock is smooth, gray/brown patina & is operable. Tape primer mechanism is missing. Stock w/ many dents & marks is fine w/ cracks around lock plate along w/ 2 through grip. Inspector’s mark is fairly clear. (01-19203/MGM). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
