US MODEL 1855 PISTOL CARBINE WITH MATCHING
SHOULDER STOCK. Cal. 58. NSN. 12" Rifled bbl. is fitted w/ swivel mounted steel ramrod. “V” & eagle head proofs are visible on top left flat at rear. Bbl. tang is fitted w/ 2 leaf folding rear sight, 1 leaf w/ dual V notches, & front leaf w/ peep aperture. 1855 Dated percussion lock is fitted w/ tape priming device & is marked “U.S. SPRINGFIELD” at front. An eagle stamp is on priming cover. Back strap is cut for attachable stock. Stock is brass mounted w/ 1 spring retained brass band to attach bbl., brass nose cap, trigger guard that extends to rounded butt cap w/ iron lanyard ring. Cap is stamped “19”, matching size & font of number on tang of detachable walnut stock, “US” is stamped on top of brass buttplate & a sling loop is on brass mount at toe. CONDITION: good to very good. iron parts mostly gray patina w/ considerable pitting at rear portion of bbl. Tape primer cover is a replacement. Good bore. Lock & tape primer operable. Stock sound w/ old hand worn finish. Brass nicely patinated. Inspectors mark on left side not quite legible. Buttstock matches exceptionally well. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti.
