US MARKED STEVENS MODEL 520-30 TRENCH PUMP

SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga., 2 3/4". S# 59608. Introduced in 1904, the Model 520-30 was discontinued in 1932. In 1942 the government purchased all available guns from Stevens including unused 520-30 receivers. The 520-30 tooling was still available and operable. The U.S. Ordnance Department standardized the M520-30 and placed orders for new guns. A total of 35,306 were purchased by the government during WWII including trench, riot and training versions. Bbl. 20" cylinder bore with steel bead. 6 Row handguard with proper plum colored bayonet lug. Square stern action features a top tang sliding safety. Left side of receiver has "P" inspection mark over flaming bomb. "US" is stamped above trigger guard. Trigger guard is stamped "S" on forward sloping portion with larger "M" on front part of bow. Right side of barrel bolster is stamped "P" over flaming bomb. Plain small round forearm and pistol grip walnut stock with original buttplate. Web sling on original swivels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Remington 1917 bayonet. Right side is marked with eagles head over "17", flaming bomb over "US" followed by "X". Green synthetic scabbard. Blade has gray colored parkerizing. Scales have dark worn appearance with marks and small chips. CONDITION: 85% military finish showing slide and carry wear with scattered scratches and marks. Bayonet lug has god plum color. Wood has worn original finish showing dents, scratches and marks. Bore is generally bright showing scattered spots of pitting. (22-4147/DS). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
