UNMARKED DERINGER PERCUSSION POCKET PISTOL
UNMARKED DERINGER PERCUSSION POCKET PISTOL Description: .41 Caliber, 2 3/4in round, flat-top barrel with a very good bore that has light pitting within the grooves. This is a lovely little pistol that has much of the original browned finish remaining on the barrel with some mild freckling and pitting at the muzzle as well as a few minor pinprick pits around the bolster and nipple. The breech is unmarked except for some light scroll engraving which is repeated on the dark plum-brown back action lockplate and barrel tang. The hammer is likewise a dark plum-brown and has some light pitting on the nose. The pistol has lightly engraved ~Deringer-esque~ German silver accents: a countoured plate under the percussion bolster, scalloped sideplate, and teardrop-shaped flourish at the butt. The nicely proportioned round triggerguard continues forward and flares out to form the nosecap as a single piece and the uncheckered stock has numerous small handling marks under an added oil finish and has a repaired crack through the grip near the butt. There is no provision for a ramrod and the mechanism is tight and fully functional. Though unmarked, this certainly looks to be an American-made gun and is a very good Deringer reproduction, nice enough to be desirable in its own right.
