UNITED STATES, Philadelphia, Continental Congress, $4, February 17, 1776, serial 54899, PMG Choice VF 35. Fr-CC-26. Nice, bold, well-centered printing and ink signatures are seen on this $4 note issued by the Continental Congress in February of 1776; just over four months later, the United States of America declared independence from Great Britain. The vignette of a running hog at right bears the Latin phrase AUT MORS AUT VITA DECORA ("Either death or honorable life").
